Peace Dollars are tough for me. That's a very strong strike for a 22. I'd give it a 64, a 65 it not for a couple of boo boos on the obverse. It still could make 65 based on graded slabs I've seen.
Given the quality of the photos, I am really unsure on this one.... Strike: Peace dollars are known for weak strike. This appears to be okay, but there appears to be high point weakness on the feathers at the very least. Luster: I'm going to base much of my grade on this factor, due to the picture quality. The luster appears undisturbed in the fields. Normally, I would look for luster breaks on the high points, but I can't really determine that. However, if I look at the luster between Liberty's nose and the rim (one of the widest open areas, sure to show wear if there was any) I don't see any break in the luster. Eye Appeal: Generic, neutral, untoned silver. Contact Marks: Plenty, in prime focal areas. Marks everywhere. Overall grade... 62.
I'm at MS-63. It's a decent strike but there are several deep nicks; however, I believe that it's "CACable". Sorry, I had to make that joke after hearing how much of a flop the Mac stickers were.
Dang, I just love this group! I learn so much from y’all’s posts and responses. I’ll give it til morning and post the slab.
I believe this beauty is AU58. Edit - but I can definitely see with the right light, on a good day, PCGS grading this MS60-MS61; I wouldn't be too surprised.
Not sure on the grade but definitely an exceptional coin. Just a little lower than mint state in my opinion. AU 55.
Y'all know your business, but I like that all of the guesses were spot on or higher. Not sure what @dwhiz was picking up on for a details grade, but I've seen a lot of details grades that baffle me, so a reasonable guess. Side note - this slab damn near killed me trying to get it open! Side side note - my OCD brain really wants to get that one black spot off her crown/rays..."I bet I could just scrape that off..."
