The Hamsa bird is a religious bird from Hindu and Buddhist cultures, thought to be a swan or a goose.

How about a theme shift to war coins, either issued during the war in a way that impacted it (ie US steel cent) or commemorating or depicting something from the war?

I've posted this before but wanted to share it again, I don't know of any other commemorative coin that was issued during the war that it commemorates, but I'm sure they're out there.

That fellow looks like he got booped on the nose during a fight. Also, he looks a bit too old to be doing battle;) with twenty year olds.

War can age one quickly. This the second of these I have bought. The first one got lost in the mail. Being a former marine engineer, I like the idea that this was made from the bronze of the propeller from that ship. 1898 USS Olympia obv.JPG 1898 USS Olympia rev.JPG

Here is a remnant from a little known historical event. During the British Occupation of Java from 1811-1815 the British made a quick incursion into nearby Sumatra and overthrew the ruling Mahmud Badaruddin II, head of the Palembang Sultanate. The British then occupied the Palembang region and also conquered Bangka Island nearby (a valuable source of tin mines). It was during this time that this coin was issued; Zeno places it 1812-1816 which is based on articles by Mitchiner and Yih in JONS. The stylish Arabic script calls Palembang the "seat of Inglistan", or England. This particular piece, like many, was collected by divers from the bottom of the Musi River that flows through Palembang.

To the best of my knowledge and research, no. I want to say that the communist movement had yet to adopt the symbol (they did it in either 1918 or 1919) and the hammer and sickle mainly stood for the workers class movement or something similar? Chile used the symbol (not stylized as similarly to the Soviet one as this German notgeld) in the 19th Century so it definitely held importance before much of the Marxism powers spread. I may be off on a bit of that but I think that's what I found last time.

The coin below was minted by the US San Francisco Mint (and presumably distributed to the islands by American forces) because of WWII and the very difficult logistics of the British safely getting coinage to their colony.

Belgium 2 Frank, 1944. Struck in the U.S. on the same planchet used for the 1943 steel cent.

edit: When checking this before posting also noted in the Standard Catalog that there were also errors struck on on the silver Netherlands 25 Cent planchets. A pricey error coin if you could even find one for sale.
