Didn't we just see this coin, or one very like it, called out as being struck from counterfeit dies?

Edit: Here's the thread I was thinking of.

Reverse would have had to been struck ...3,4,5 times? Im getting more and more skeptical as I get older especially with how clever and creative the crooks are getting.

I'm leaning toward counterfeit. @JCro57 has the better explanation and examples.

Everything lines up perfect on this,I would also think that the liberty on his shoulder would be hard to replicate...but... who knows.. @Fred Weinberg might know a thing or 2

Definitely struck with fake dies after the first strike. It is a common year so someone must have made several from a roll of 1960 D cents. I havethese 2 below.

I make them with the small date so they aren’t mine

    It's a counterfeit struck with
    false/fake dies.

There's lots of photos of these
    types of counterfeit double strikes
in Spadone's old book on Errors
    from the early 1960's.

That settles it. Thank you, Mr. Weinberg.

This coin has been counterfeited. The dies are not USMint dies. One other comment is the coin, same date, is becoming more popular as time goes by. In other words, more of them are showing up and it's only taken 60 years.

Well, the planchet and first strike are genuine. The second strike is from counterfeit dies.
