Any ideas on this token/coin?

I recently got this out of a junk bin, and am not sure what it is. I am leaning towards a 1800s German token based on the lettering style of the 20, but this is just a guess. Any ideas?

lol, the engraver obviously took their time on the reverse .

 

It may be a counting or game token. Tokens like this are called maverick tokens
when the can not be IDed.

It's a gambling token, some call them counter tokens, mostly used to play card games. Yes 1800's looks right but I don't know what country.

If you have a weight and diameter, you can do a parameter search for tokens on
Numista. I've had some luck finding coins and tokens that way with very little
else to go on. Just searching for "20" and "token" gives 3149 results, which is
too many to go through by hand without narrowing it down a bit!
Not every token is listed there, but quite a few are, so it's worth a try.

Edit: Looked through for a bit to see if I would be lucky.
No exact match, but the most similar types I saw were early 20th Century French gaming tokens. Such as this one. A gaming token could explain why there are no
identifying markers by the issuer. It probably served as a temporary marker in place
of money rather than being meant to circulate.

 

I couldn’t find anything either :/, but I agree with the gambling token idea. I find it looks quite similar to German 20 Werth-Marke tokens.

 

Yo @Milo W I decided to do a little more research and I found out your token could be an old 20 grain apothecary weight. My computer is acting up when I show pics that aren't mine but here's the link. Just thought I'd let you know!

I have something that is very similar. I haven't done much looking into this one, but from the font and dotted denticles, I would guess it's from the same maker.

I do believe that I listed this one on Tokencatalog.com. if I haven't, I'll get around to it sooner or later.

Interesting. That the ebay listing is in a holder with the same writing as a bunch of F. M. Rose coins I have purchased on ebay recently.
