1999 d quarter possible experimental planchet error

    circulated coin not to good of shape found in one of my change jugs ive been going through 6.0-6.1 grams. let the roast begin Thanks for looking

    I am thinking gold plated by a private company?? Maybe Littleton coin?

    I think the experimental planchets in 1999 were tested at the Philly mint

    It's gold plated - they've plated hundreds of thousands
    of them over the past 20 years.

    The Experimental Planchets have a completely different
    look to them.

    Yup to gold plated.

    Not even plated well....you can see they plated over damage. You'd think they would find an uncirculated coin or something of decent grade to take the time with.
