I'm not an ancient coin guy but I bought this one today from my LCS. I figured out the emperor is Vespasian but I can't find a match doing a Google search. There's a lot with eagles but none look like mine. Does anyone know anything more about this? It's about the size of a British half penny.
Vespasian, 69-79. As Lugdunum (Lyon), A.D. 71. IMP CAES VESPASIAN AVG COS III Laureate head of Vespasian to right, [set on globe]. Rev. S C Eagle standing facing on globe, its head to right, with his wings spread. Cf. BMC 811. BN 809 = RIC² 1169
Actually, the obverse reads COS IIII, making this RIC 1202 (C2). BMC 822. BNC 819. https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pid=151204 Nice example!
Here's an example of your variety (not as nice) currently on Vcoins: https://www.vcoins.com/en/stores/lo...9__as__lugdunum__r_eagle/1800593/Default.aspx You made out pretty well!
