Has anybody talked about this NGC article? Here's the news:

    Cool. Potentially a rarity.

So everybody, make sure that you check all of your direct ship dollar coin rolls!!

Who said the new dollars were boring?

I think it's kind of ironic. I just read an article a couple weeks ago how the mint's new process for the golden dollars was unlikely to produce any more errors. The article was probably written as this coin was being examined by NGC.

We'll see if there are any more out there.

And of course once it was discovered the Mint pulled all the direct ship NA dollars so they could unwrap and search them to make sure that no more got out. As I mentioned elsewhere, I had been wondering how long it would take before a dollar with the wrong year edge would turn up.

The Mint has nothing better to do than to waste all that labor searching rolls. Unbelievable!

    Dang

Dang. And I've been leaving Zake's from Rolls in machines and in tip jars without knowing to check.

Why would it be wasting time by pulling the folks from milk spot production and then reducing it to the shift that misdated said coins and have them do the searching? Sometimes a change in routine is GOOD for production.

I've got $500 of NA coins to search ...I guess I know what I'm doing this weekend.

....yeah it's amazing! they recalled 28,000 rolls of the bucks to eyeball them

so someone else doesn't hit the e-bay/auction lottery.

This was known over 2 weeks ago, so far only one find. Doesn't look like many are out there.

Because those are our tax dollars. They're over staffed if they have enough employees to sort through probably a lot of already rolled coins, providing no benefit to taxpayers and denying collectors a major error. Time for a RIF at the MInt.

....yeah, the govt. isn't shy when it comes to spending debacles. maybe this

is a part of stimulus. :rolling:

Honestly, I wouldn't mind being one of those roll searchers! God forbid a couple of them should fall into my left sock!

    Interesting thought.

BTW, I went through $1,000 of D mints and dang near burned out an eyeball!

Some of the worse looking coins I've ever seen! AVG grade at around MS64 with some not even being gradeable. Even the edges were beat to death and I don't ever recall seeing edges that were beat to death.

Luckily these searchers won't have to burn out any eyeballs. They don't have to look THAT close. You just lay out the roll and play which one doesnt look like the other ...lol. If they all look the same ...move on to the next. A president dollar in a roll of sacs will be easy to spot.

I've ordered 4 boxes of the 2010 Native American and I'm very happy with their quality. Sure no MS66 or MS67 but does anyone really think those are a dime a dozen? hahahahaha.

....we must not forget what the direct ship intentions are. get 'em and circulate

them. DON'T check them for errors or high MS condition! don't make like a

typical coin collector! what's wrong with you people!?

    From the mint

As, Joe Schmo, and ordering new coins From the mint, I have to promise my intent is to put them into circulation.

But you know that anybody going through the trouble of mail ordering coins is also going to at lease give them a look~through before they spend them.
