Found this yellow 1995 D penny yesterday. Wondering why it's yellow. Here is a picture of it with a 2014 penny next to it for color comparison.
Sorry, but the photo and lighting make it difficult to tell. Sometimes there are planchet/dipping issues that can cause this.
As the plating solution used to plate copper on the zinc gets old it becomes more and more contaminated with dissolved zinc. When this happens the planchets start eing plated with copper and zinc In other words Brass. The longer the solution is used the higher the zinc content in the Brass plating and the yellower the color of the plating.
