I want to start thread about world's valuable coin you can find in circulation. I will start with country I am from. Everyone can add country what knows. Czech republic 10 Kč 1993 (small Kč) Face value: 0.5 USD Collectors value: 1000 - 2000 USD Population: 1000 Normal - worth face value Rare - small Kč Reverse (year: 1993)
1992-D Close AM Lincoln Cent- Value approximately $2000- up and 1992 Close AM Lincoln Cent- Value approximately $15,000 and up.
I think it's a MORGAN SILVER DOLLAR 1893 S 100,000 Mintage....with No error & variety just regular 1893 S Silver Morgan Dollars, now when it comes to error and variety the winner is any double denomination 6c or 11c Nickel on a Penny/ Cent on Dime... 1893 s Silver Morgan Dollar!
Even if we can count Morgans as "in circulation", I don't think the 1893-s is in the running. If you consider full-size silver dollars to be "in circulation", there are several key dates in the Liberty Seated series that go much higher, not to mention the 1794. I wouldn't recommend starting to roll-hunt for them, either. I interpreted the original question to mean "things that are actually likely to be spent repeatedly". I can believe that most people getting the OP's coin wouldn't recognize it as anything special, and would treat it as common pocket change. In US coinage, the closest I can think of would be the coins in the second and third posts. Maybe the "Cheerios" pattern-reverse Sac dollar.
Fully understood your explanation ang you are right about what OP needs to KNOW a coin circulation Now! So my pick is 1943D Bronze Lincoln Wheat memorial... sold for 1.7 Million US Dollars. ..I have my 1943 D/D raw steel cent..
or maybe 1995 Lincoln Memorial Double Die.... This one is my watch list! He his selling $ 27 K, the others is only selling 2K http://www.ebay.com/itm/1995-Double...Individual&hash=item2eb5a1e21c#ht_3305wt_1240
Hard to argue with that one! Nearly everyone would spend it without a second thought, and that price is going to be hard to exceed.
[h=3]1969-S Lincoln Cent With a Doubled Die Obverse worth about $35,000 to $40,000. Now go find it! Do it![/h]
Italy: mule coin: obverse 1 eurocent, reverse 2 eurocent approx. 100 exist, one sold last week for 6600€
WOW, you responded to a post from 2013! Welcome to CT. This is what we call a nekrothread, not sure how many people will see it. Best to go to the Forums tab at the top, select the Error Coins forum, go to the New Post tab, name your thread and post it with pictures, cropped and posted full size. Hate to tell you though, most of these are just environmentally damaged coins...a penny blank won't fit in a dime die.
Since this as been Necro and is an interesting topic. I would go with (and I know its not that interesting) is some undiscovered error coin. The more interesting question is most valuable non-error coin. At least in my mind. In terms of what could realistically be in circulation and a non-error coin I would think a 1909-S VDB would be tops. The other possibility rumor that some Canadian 1936 dot cent did get into circulation are true. If so one would be worth 5 to 6 figures. Given that none have been confirmed in over 80 years and that such a coin would have to circulating in the US it is a akin to a circulating 1913 V-Nickel This leaves aside legal tender coins that are in the ground which I guess are technically in Circulation and worse stolen coins that get spent at face value
Welcome to the neighborhood, Kyle! Do you plan to start your own thread as Kentucky suggested? Photos will help, but in all likelihood, your coin has probably been affected by the environment. ~ Chris
