I don’t understand why people buy bricks of shredded cash. I see them selling for over 400.00. Can someone enlighten me on why please. I am curious.
I know people liked buying a bag certified to have X cash in it. The BEP still sells them I believe. The only way I could see $400 price tag is if they were certified all $100 bills shredded, and the package contained $10,000 or more shredded cash. That is all this is for, novelty items with "bragging rights" how much cash is in there.
are those shredded bricks complete? or separated in half (or partial) before selling ? funny ... just looked one up .. it also does not say "complete shreddings of" ..
Why pay so much? Well, it looks like it takes a bit of work and special equipment to make them - https://theawesomer.com/shredded-cash-brick/569826/ . So they are more like an art work, like modern-made "hobo nickels". [People pay hundreds of dollars for them on eBay, too.]
Nice post, that's an interesting project. Though it looks like the artist has already violated one of the BEP's rules: "The recipient must not claim the value of the shredded currency enclosed in a product as having a monetary value greater than the weight of the shredded currency per ounce, or fraction thereof, multiplied by $165 per ounce."
Years ago, my dad bought my mom a box of shredded bills. It was a million dollars in there. When they moved they were gunna throw it out so i got to keep it instead. Woot woot, now iam a millionaire. Ill go find it and grab a picture of it lol
Its sat in storage for 14 years, but all the shredded bills were still in there, iam moving it all over to some glass boxes so its alil better protected.
In my opinion, unless those were 5 or 10 thousand dollar bills, there aren't enough in that container to be a million dollar. I've seen all types of "novelty" items using shredded notes; pillows to paper weights, and my guess is the buyers like to brag about having a lot of money. LOL
I went to Denver to see my step son last Christmas. As a thing to do, we went to the Money Museum in downtown Denver. As a parting "gift", you got to pick up a "Bag of Money". (In small print, it read shredded money). The bag states that it is about $165.00 in each bag. With my wife with me, we got two bags.
