anybody have any opinions on which of these would be better. 2.5 gram .9999 pamp suisse gold bar, or 3.1 gram (1/10) american gold eagle thats .9167 gold. its like $120 vs $150, but the .9999 suisse bar sounds better to me than .9167 eagle. maybe its about the same?
yea i like the pamp bar too. its bout $120 at jm bullion. although provident might have a better reputation than jm. would the eagles sell better though?
AGE have the markup for a reason , they're easier to sell . But most buyers of bullion know pamp . I'd probably go with pamp , but I like them both . Though I like the 1/4 , 1/2 oz AGE coins better for the slightly less markup . Go with what you like . BTW I just traded a 1/2 oz AGE for partial payment on an 1812 Bust half and got better than melt for it .
I think you should always take the higher gold percentage because if you ever have to sell it, there will be less haggling.
You may be right , but to me an oz. of gold whether it's in Gold Buffaloes or Gold eagles is an oz of gold . Most buyers of these coins never melt them anyway , they're a known quantity and that's good enough . Are Krugerlands 90% or .999% ?
I actually own both the 2.5 gram pamp and the 1/10 gold eagle. Both are excellent and I have never had a problem selling either of them. Gold is an excellent investment and you will probably get a better return on your money than the .25% a savings account will pay.
krugerrands like 91 gold and like 8 copper. i think if i buy a gold coin ill prob just get maple leaf. i think. hard to make up my mind.
Gold maple leafs are very nice coins, I have a few of them they are awesome to look at. I have had a little trouble selling them as they are not as popular as the gold eagles here in the USA. 1/10 gold eagle may sell for say $160 and a 1/10 gold maple will sell for say $151, both the same weight just the maple is not as popular.
really, why is that. i mean your getting more gold in the leaf for a cheaper price right. why would anyone pay more for a less pure gold coin? am i missing something. if there both one ounce gold, there not the same though right. one has less gold than the other. but yet the eagles sell for more. kinda stupid isnt it? just cause we prefer the eagle we would rather have it. i mean heck ill buy the one that is the best investment, but its just doesnt make sense.
No, they both have 1 full ounce of gold or 1/10th ounce of gold. It has to do with popularity of the coin, what a buyer will pay for that coin. Go to Canada they probably prefer the Gold Maple over the Gold Eagle. Take a 1 ounce silver bar, you can buy a Silver Towne bar right now for $24 yet folks will pay $34 for a popular pamp silver bar ~ not me I am looking for value.
wait, then a maple leaf weighs less, or a eagle weighs more. they both cant weigh 31.1 for an ounce or the maple leaf would be a way better deal then. so how much does each one weigh?
i found it, the eagle weighs 33.93 grams, so i get it now. they both have one ounce gold, your right.
yea it would prob be better to go with the eagle, cause it would be stronger. i guess they only put silver and copper in it to strengthen it.
Boy and I will tell you the difference between 24kt and 22kt is very telling. The 24kt gold coins seem to just "shine on" get your "shine on" and the 22kt coins are less stunning.
yea, eagle almost looks bronze. man definetly hard to make up my mind. i can get the eagle at my local jewelery shop for a good price, but i cant seem to decide which gold to get. have to make up my mind tonight, prob gonna get a piece tomorrow.
The pamp bars are 24kt, they have the shine. I went to the bank today and took a look at my gold I'm happy even with gold down.
yes, very comforting feeling looking at that i bet. i have some silver and i tend to look at it like 2 to 3 times a day.
