All: I was wondering if someone could recommend a business/dealer that you can buy Bulk unsearched coins. I have seen all of the threads about how the "UNSEARCHED" on Ebay are usually a waste of money and time. I am looking to build up my inventory of coins and start trying to sell some that I do not want to keep. I want to start with the SAC, SBA, and IKE dollars and the kennedy half dollar. Would also like to get into the Morgan and Peace dollars but I think in would be easier to get the newer coins first. Sign me off as Hungry for more info!! :eat: Thanks
Well, as for the Sacs and Kennedys, you can get sealed rolls of those from the bank, which are essentially unsearched. Occasionaly, the banks will have Ikes and SBAs as well. As for the silver dollars, I don't think it's possible to get them unsearched, unless you buy a $1,000 face value sealed bag, which will probably cost more than your car.
Bulk unsearched coins I do not know if there is such a thing unless you find them buried in the ground or get rolls from the banks Your best bet is to educate youself with some coin books and for price of coins you need the greysheet to buy at what dealers buy for. Coin shows are a great way to meet some dealers who will give you a much better price at a show because of the competition there
As already noted, just go to several banks and buy lots of coins. Rolls, boxes, bags. Eventually you will accumulate some rather decent coins. Since the coin market is so high right now, your a little late to jump on the band wagon, so to speak. If you do go buy tons of coins from banks, then get rid of them the same as everyone else and post them on ebay as unsearched coins.
According to APMEX, they have "Selling for as low as $1.00 over melt value! Off Quality, Cull, Damaged, Cleaned, Polished, etc! (Dates from 1878 - 1935)" which comes to $12.22 at the moment. $11.97 each if you buy 100 or more. They also have "Corroded, Dark, Worse than our Cull Silver Dollars. Selling As low as Melt! Lot's of details, just dark & corroded..." for $11.22 each. $10.94 each if you buy 100 or more. MJPM has "Circ. 1921-1935 Peace Dollar" for $13.75 each. They are sold out of the Morgans. I couldn't find anything listed on tulving.com at the moment, but I've seen good prices with them in the past too. I don't any significant experience with either of those, so don't take any of this as a recommendation to use them. I would expect the coins to have been verified at some point at which time, key dates were probably separated, but I get the impression that these three sites want to deal in volume and minimize their labor. So it may be possible to get AU silver coins from them when buying in bulk.
