Where is a good place to sell coins online?

Discussion in 'Coin Chat' started by Coinismatics2000, Feb 9, 2024.

  1. I love collecting coins but sometimes it is time to sell...

Where is a reliable place where I can do this?

I already have an eBay account (which I have heard is called Evil-Bay lol). This got me thinking is there any other medium where coins and bought and sold privately? I am UK-based if that makes a difference.

I've had success at Stacks & Bowers because of the clientele if you can meet the $5k minimum. Try the "for sale" page forum here?

There's a site called usacoinbook that you can list on. The fees are a lot lower than eBay. You can also try instagram. People are a bit cautious there, but looking your eBay page will help ready their minds. There are tons of FB groups too.

What is this "sell" thing that you speak of?

The first thing to decide on is if you want to be in charge of shipping each coin. I don't know what that is like from the UK.
There are several great auction houses in the US that will handle everything for you. You send them the coins and they deal with it. My first thoughts are Great Collections, Heritage and Starks. Each will have a different fee structure.

I think alot depends on what you are trying to sell and how much/many. I am in the US and have used all three auction sites that Larry mentioned above with good results. That said, there are also several European auction sites that I have seen CT members mention in the past. You might want to check out the World Coins sub-forum here on CT also.

all options above are great but it really depends on what coins your referring to,if it's common stuff probably better off to sell in person.

Agreed, but where... I have a coin shop an hour's drive away that has a bid board. Otherwise there's always Craigslist : - )
