What is this cut or line on my quarter?

    There is a cut on my quarter. I don’t know what to call this. Anyone can tell me, that would be great…

    It is a long deep scratch. It was damaged after it left the mint.

    If it is 1964 or before, it's silver and worth around $5 or more. If after 1964, only worth a quarter. Welcome to CT

    The lines on coins that you want to look for are die cracks they are raised from the coins surface.
    This Morgan shows many die cracks around the perimeter thru the letters.
