What is he best website to buy coins from? I’m new to all of this and very interested. I’ve heard Littleton, American Coin, Ebay. I was just wondering if anyone had any tips or places.
Have you ever heard of the 1982 D small date penny made from copper. Only like 3 have been found. And yes I’m sure it’s copper. I’ve weighed it.
If it's rare as you think then the first step is to get it authenticated. Opt for PCG or NGC. BTW it's a CENT, not a penny. Says so right on the reverse.
To me, the BEST place to buy coins is your local coin shop or a coin show. That way, you get to actually see the coins that you are buying.
It sucks that I do not have a local coin shop. I would love to start my own but I am a little short of funds, who am I kidding, I am a lot of short of funds.
Coin shows in the area you live are the best place to get good prices. Auctions and ebay are good but you need to have a handle on the value of the coins you are bidding on.
Depending on where you live, a local coin shop may not be so local. Coin shops are a good place to see actual coins in person but depending on what you are looking for you may not find what you want. Coin shops in more populated areas may change inventory often which is good. The remote area I live makes it difficult to find what I want locally so I go the online route mostly. I buy mostly through auctions (Ebay or other major auction houses). For certified coins I usually look at Great Collections or Heritage. I do go to a few coin shows each year as well and it's nice seeing coins in hand.
for my certified coins i shop ebay but my question is in just bullion bars not coins who is the lowest price seller-i always check for" deals"on jm bullion-whc,us gold bureau-( i hate the name but u get some fair deals on bullion)jd bullion etc

Again, welcome to CT!! There is no one answer to this question. There are hundreds, if not thousands of sources, ALL of which will have some great deals & bad deals. Your mission is to learn enough to know which coins are acceptable to you (given whatever your collecting parameters are) & what price you are willing to pay. Are you a serious or casual collector?, a reseller?, a stacker?, or......? Once you evolve into your level of collecting, it will become easier (again, with accumulating knowledge) to advance your objectives. Some people collect for the challenge of putting together sets, some to acquire the best specimen they can afford. Some collect to eventually resell, and some have never sold a coin (Me!). Some collect only ancients, some both, some only moderns, some only US....etc. Knowledge is power!!!, but it is not gained overnight! Learn how to grade for yourself. I suggest you either throw away your copy of "Strike It Rich With Pocket Change" or exit this site - it will only bring trouble. If you're only looking for the Home Run, pitchers & catchers report soon, the season is almost here! There are many excellent book sources - check those other threads on CT to learn about them. Any combination of coin shops, coin shows, flea markets, estate sales, on-line auctions, coin roll hunting, auction houses, pawn shops, etc., etc. are all sources where there are both good deals & bad deals!!! There is no one source! Most of all, either have fun or find something else!
