I cashed a checo today at the bank and received 60, 100 dollar bills. They were all new or fairly new bills except for 1 oldy. It's a 1981 circulated bill, fairly low sn and it is offset I think more than a usual offset print. My first question is, is it counterfit. Second question is if it is legit, is it worth more than $100? 20190430_181839.jpg 20190430_181906.jpg

I'm sorry, but I don't see that as being a low s/n. Nor do I see it being offset more than BEP tolerances.

Oh really. Ok. Yeah I admit I do not know - edited - about this stuff I guess ive just never seen one quite that offset. Couldnt be a whole lot worse or that bottom left corner would be off the paper but perhaps that happens?. Thanks for letting ke know.

I agree with Aquaman ^^. That's not a low SN. It would need more zeros than that to be considered low. And it's not offset enough to matter either. Plus, with all the stains and creases, that note is only worth face value. Your good news is that the note is legit and it is a $100.00 and not a $1.00. Check this link out :

Cool find! Yes, your note is real- before 1990, banknotes didn't have a watermark or security strip.

Your note is genuine but in a low condition. With paper money, collectible modern bills must be in better shape. This has folds, a stain and part of a tellers stamp, all of which lower the value.

Unfortunately three leading zeros do not make a low number. In most cases neither do four leading zeros. This is not an offset bill. Bills are printed in sheets and it was cut close but within BEP tolerances.

I couldn't help but notice you were edited, probably for language. Please read the rules as there is no tolerance for foul language.

    Welcome to CT.

    Thanks
Thank you for the info and sorry about the foul language. I was wondering, does the BEP allow for the same degree of error in bills today? Or are the bills printed differently and don't have flaws such as the one in this discussion?

So we have a live one, goodie. I wonder if his skin is as thin as it looks we’ll find out. Who walks around with $6000? I’m not buying it let’s see all the bills, put up or shut up. Unlike @paddyman98 I don’t find your post amusing

If you're a contractor, it would be easy to have a $6,000.00 check to cash. When I was partners in Patrick-Brown Construction we had checks, both large and small, all the time. Business people don't like to carry around large amounts of cash, so they paid by check. We would take the check to their bank, cash it, then make the rounds of our suppliers and employees, all the while the pile would be getting smaller and smaller, until only ours was left.

But regardless, that still doesn't excuse a smart mouth.
