If you are considering selling it, most dealers offer a lesser amount calculated than if it was 99.9 silver. Their smelting costs are usually calculated by the purity, so they offer less. Same if a person is selling 18 K gold rather than 24 k . Jim
FYI, some sterling medals are more than an ounce (1.2 ounce weights are fairly common). So, make sure you check the weight (and understand the difference between troy and avoirdupois ounces).
i have a one troy once silver dollar, oklahoma federated gold and numismatics inc. on the back and says one troy oz. but the eagle is standing at rest on a branch with an olive branch under his right claw. and under the branch it says 999 fine silver. The eagle at rest is what i found to be different on this coin. I also weighted it and it ways 32.3 grams. which is heavier than another one i have. So Im not familiar with the weight differences or the eagles stances. Can u give me a heads up on this at all? thanks patti
Thank You for replying, I dug this coin out of the ground several years ago and felt the clarity on it was amazing for being dug up.
