If you have a shipment, domestic or international, that is experiencing delay, here is a link to the form available on the USPS website that allows you to submit a request for locating the item.

    https://www.usps.com/help/missing-mail.htm

Select option 2, "Complete a Help Request Form"

You will need to provide the tracking number as well as other information. It could take a week or longer for them to get back to you with status information.

Thanks, may need this soon as I have 2 Gallienus Tetradrachms coming from France & there hasn't been moving the whole week, the person I got them from said le poste is having problems. I wish I would have known before I bought them.

The pandemic is definitely having an impact on shipping, primarily due to the tremendous decrease in the number of available domestic and international flights. Couple that situation with the usual delays with customs and slower links within the USPS due to the virus, that means significant delays in many situations.

Having said that, I should add that I have had fairly quick deliveries with domestic Priority Mail. That service is taking a bit longer, but delivery usually occurs within 4-5 days max.

All of my experience with that U.S.P.S. process have been poor. In all cases I just received periodic emails that they were working on it and have had no success in finding anything. In two cases I continued to receive periodic emails that they were unable to locate items that had been scanned and delivered. In my opinion, the whole process is a farce.

After a time limit runs out they will close indicating they were unable to find your item and provide helpful hints on how to properly write and adhere mailing labels to your packages so the sender will not make the same mistake again.

I have used the "help request form" twice in the past and didn't receive a response to either one.

I wouldn't worry about a week hold up. That seems pretty typical right now. I just had a package take over 3 weeks to make it through customs. This was on the US end.

Our delivery has been quick since this virus started?, I guess it depends on the area, I just received a coin from California to WV, 2 days, regular mail, no tracking#

You can also ask your postmaster to do an "Exception" which will do the same, by supplying the same info. My postmaster has achieved excellent results by using this method.

Delays galore these days. I have items from Japan and India which have been in limbo since mid-March due to near total shut downs there! Domestic service is a little slow, but still functional.

I have an Athena Owl Tetradrachm in transit that was last scanned as arriving at Jersey City on April 28. It was sent First Class mail with "signature". No sign of movement since then.

Jersey City has the most atrocious record, aside from Atlanta that I know of. All my media mail goes through there, and I do a lot of that with books, and they will not send a truck out until it is loaded to the ceiling. Customer service is non existent. A truck may sit for a week and you will have no idea what is happening. Thankfully my first class mail goes through the Albany/Hartford route, so much more efficient.

I haven't had issues locally. Received at least 10 packages since the start of the virus, some of them first class and a few of them 3-day Priority small flat rate which surprisingly arrived on time. Though they were all domestic, I haven't purchased from an international seller in the last few months.

My concern with the Tet is that there have been four other "Media Mail" items that I received that passed through Jersey City and were delivered after the Tet got there. It scanned as "Arrived" but never scanned as "Departed" which is unusual even if items don't move. It took three days for it to move from Greensboro, NC before it even got to Jersey. I wonder if it even physically arrived at Jersey City or was just on some manifest the indicated that it should have, but got "lost" on the way.

In any case I notified the seller that they may have a loss on their hands since the shipping came with "insurance".

On another note, most of my tracked First Class mail is moving normally if not a little quicker than pre- COVID.
