Has anybody here used USA coin book as a venue to sell coins? If so are there a lot of buyers or am I stuck with fleece Bay.
The good thing for buyers is, if you see a coin for sale today there's a good chance it will still be for sale the next time you look in 6 months
eBay didn’t have burgeoning traffic in it’s infancy either. It takes time to grow a following. Especially when there’s already a 900 lb gorilla in the game. I decided to give USACB a chance a couple of years ago, and my following there is definitely growing. I’ve made sales there from $10 to $3500, with everything in between. USACB also is definitely more attentive to counterfeit offerings and fraudulent tactics than eBay is. I still intend to grow my store there, and hope others will join in to grow a hobby-dedicated site, which we so badly need.
The fees are substantially less at USACB. eBay fees are 10% without a store, and 6% with one. USACB fees are only 2%.
Thanks. I will give it a try. I don't sell a lot of coins but like to sell things off to upgrade my collection. EBay becomes more and more unsavory all the time. They have been riding the gravy train for years . I'd like to see some other options to leave them in the dust.
That’s exactly why I switched. I badly want a serious alternative to eBay and, if we don’t support one when it most needs our help to grow, we won’t get one.
Of course, it's just something that should be known. Assuming someone isn't selling tons of items there best course of action would be to just list everything both places
Honestly id just list them both at the eBay price since thats the market price. There's a pretty decent chance a buyer would try and negotiate a lower price anyways no matter what price you listed it at
The reason I'd list the coins cheaper at USACB is twofold. First, it enhances the likelihood that one will actually make the sale, and second, it may help reinforce the inclination of yet another buyer to eventually visit USACB more frequently than eBay.
I made some attempts at BIN/BO listings there as well as some auction-style listings. Lots of views on the BIN/BO, but zero offers. Most of the auction-style toner type sets I listed didn't even get bids approaching face value. Now...keep in mind, I had lots of positive feedback on eBay before I stopped selling there, but I have zero feedback at USACB so far, so I sort of look like a new seller. But still...bidding action was disappointing. Was planning to create a bunch more BIN/BO for graded coins and other various stuff...but it still feels like I'm doing a lot of work with zero reward. Then again, I just had almost $1400 of deadbeat bidders from my last auction over at AuctionZip, so it's not like there is a clear frontrunner as a great alternative to eBay. But I refuse to sell there anymore and give them any more money or carte blanche power over my sales and funds.
I get that, but if the buyer comes there looking to negotiate you've kind of backed yourself into a wall with the lower price to start. The other problem too though is that with the eBay bucks/coupons/promotions the higher eBay price very easily could be cheaper out of pocket to the buyer I get the feeling most of their buyers will be people that had a bad experience with eBay or just hate it. Just like with selling it is smart for buyers to look everywhere though. Especially for buyers its really only limiting there own search not looking pretty much everywhere
Negotiating from the higher eBay price or the lower USACB price should yield the same net profit. True, although eBucks incentives are now lower, and are offered far less often than they used to be.
Potentially. There is a bit of the auction house psychology with it though where $10 off the eBay price sounds like a better deal than $5 off the USACB price even if its the same or even a better price They really seem to have randomized it a lot more where individuals get random offers as opposed to blanket offers to everyone. They definitely did seem to experiment with being incredibly stingy with them for a bit
You send it to them. Its an auction house. They take care of everything and have SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper rates for getting raw stuff graded that you're going to sell through them. https://www.greatcollections.com/
