I know that these are not rare and somewhat of a common item but what could one expect in value for these.

    Thanks.

Wow, those are in nice shape! I don't have the $2 note, maybe someday.....

The notes are that common and the grades look pretty nice! The light looks a little strong for the scans so it's hard to see some details to grade them.

Check out Heritage Auction Archives in the Currency section. You need to set up an account (free!) to see final prices realized and large images.

Thanks, some excellent info / sites. Would higher resolution close - up scans be better ? I realize the 2$ has a stain from a rusty paper clip which will drop the value some.

hi res is always preferred. my comment was about trying to adjust the scanner lamp light a bit, it seems it may be blowing out subtle details from the light intensity. if you have the ability to manipulate this aspect for the scans it might help reveal paper color, see all those colored fibers and maybe even improve the quality of the greens and blues on the notes. one tip that may improve your color overall, without adjusting the lamp-- or if you cannot do that, is to place a sheet of black or dark paper behind the note when you scan. This will help to define the margins of the notes (very important) and will not reflect the light from the lamp as much, decreasing the intensity of lighting.

Two of my favorite notes! The mini-porthole is one I've been trying to snipe (haven't even been close!) for a long time. The black eagle SC, well..... just gorgeous!

The Red Book for United States Paper Money, lists the 2 dollar note at $800 in XF40 and $1400 in MS63. Remember, these are retail prices, not what a dealer would offer. Your best shot would be on eBay. The stain would probably reduce it in value to an AU or XF note. It seems this is style No F-253.

The one dollar note is listed at $325 in XF40 and $650 in Uncirculated MS63. This seems to be style No F-230.

You could list it on eBay as a BUY IT NOW at full retail with OR BEST OFFER. I would send them in for grading first, so you can back up your requested asking price for them. Even if you don't plan to sell, it's still a good idea to get them graded. They seem to be high quality notes.

Straighten the upper right hand corner on the face of the bill. It will look much better.

I must have the first edition, mine came out in 2006 copyright but I bought it as second edition. What is the best book for Large Size Notes above the grade 63?
