Hello All! My husband had this barely opened roll of 2000 D Sacagawea Dollars. It appears to be in original roll paper as well. I believe only one or two have been removed. The face of the first one is obviously dirty and worn but the reverse is super clean! I wore gloves and took a video of inspecting this one coin when I noticed the next coin looks completely untouched, at which point I stopped. Is it possible they are uncirculated?? The face of the coin on the other end of the Roll that is unopened is also a bit dirty and worn but I think it's safe to say the reverse will also be untouched. Can someone please advise me if I should continue inspecting these coins on film one at a time or keep the remainder in the packaging (looks original) and start the process to get them graded? Thanks in advance!
Wouldn't that be a logical next step? I haven't even inspected the remainder of the Roll for any possible errors. Are you saying I could get great value without grading them? I figure they might be worth a decent amount being most likely in its original roll from the mint, uncirculated... Also, I'm still pretty new to this so any advice helps. Ty
Look on e-bay for 2000-D dollars and go to the "sold" listings. Unless you have REALLY prime coins (MS-68) you won't have anything worth enough to cover the cost of grading.
Hi Kristina. I believe it is very likely that you have a roll of uncirculated Sacys. And yes that is quite the cool find and worthy of protection. However having them graded would not be beneficial to you really. I just looked up the Greysheet and the best that uncirculated Sacys are listed is $3.00 each. The PCGS price guide shows them at $7.00 each. You would spend $30.00 to $50.00 each having them graded…… So enjoy your cool find. Keep them protected and who knows what tomorrow may bring! Welcome to the wonderful (and highly addictive) world of coin collecting!
only way i would considered getting them graded , is some kind of key date , semi date , or imperfection besides that , as mentioned , is not worth in getting them graded unless you like giving funny money away
Look for errors or a rare variety, other then that spend them If you had a number of unopened rolls some people on eBay pay a premium for those but it hardly covers the shipping costs and eBay fees. I personally opened 100 rolls found a few die crack errors and put the rest of them into circulation.
I have many rolls of uncirculated Presidents and Sacagawea dollars. I put a few in my pocket everyday to give as tips.
