Two pennies look stuck together - plating error?

I’ve got two pennies that look like they could be glued together but the difference in the pennies is the edges. The 1975 penny is much thinner in some areas (looks like almost half the width of regular penny) Is it possible for a penny to get stuck in a machine and then come out several years later with another penny?

    At the Mint? No
One was on thin planchet and the other on a thicker planchet. They are normal and probably stuck together with someone's boogers.

I actually did that so when I was in school I could really get the teachers attention !!! One to the side of the head was not working he would just pick them up and put them in his pocket.

One is on a thin planchet and the other is in a normal planchet. Probably super glued together. Only worth 2 cents.

Acetone will dissolve superglue, but not epoxy. I would have to try to separate due to cat curiosity :)

I’m curious as well. I’ll try the acetone and post results after. Thank you!

You might try freezing as well. The metal and adhesive probably have different coefficients of expansion and the freezing could make them pop apart.

Just gunk. Nothing that occurred at the US Mint.

No way could that happen at the mint. Someone was messing around.

If they wanted a Two piece, then all they needed to do was get one of these:

    Ela, what you looking up?
Some coins we know how they made em'. If they are Mint Made, there is usually someone here that can answer.

Pennies at the bottom of a chewing tabacco spit cup? Saw one discarded and tipped over inside a stall at the carwash once. That's one batch of pennies I left well alone. Only thing I saw worse than that were someone's wishing well urinal coins.

Rule of thumb: Any modern-day coins covered in what could have substantial amounts of DNA, I leave well alone.
