Hello all Last year I bought an American coin collection (wheats dimes etc) When I was looking at the coins after I sorted them I noticed this Roosevelt Dime. Its 1966 but it looks like it has two errors on it 1. You can clearly see a bite into it on the bottom left.It looks too clean to be done at home using tools on purpose (my dad joked that he can make plenty of error coins in our shed ) 2. On the right side of Roosevelt there seems to be a thick edge and on the opposite edge its very thin the same on the obverse (off centre?) Sorry if the pictures are poor they`re the best I can take My reason for asking is to clarify if this is an error And what would you value it at? Thank you -Owen
The second coin may be off-center but it's too minor to even consider. You'll find more dramatic ones if you keep looking. Usually, the devices (date, lettering, etc.) should be missing to be collectible. The first one, you'll have to provide a pic of the reverse.
I`m afraid I can`t get mcuh better pictures I`m using a digital camera. Heres more hope this helps Thanks
It looks more like a cut or clip it would not effect the other side as much as an indent, it would by push it out more on the other side
Relative to other striking errors, they're fairly common. Small indents like this have little market value, maybe a buck or two.
#1.. you need to create your own unique thread #2.. you always need pictures. Both sides, big and clear pictures Only Doubled Die varieties have a premium. Most coins display Machine or Strike Doubling or Die Deterioration Doubling. These have no added value.
