I took a lot more pictures to try and show exactly what is going on in this coin. I also took some on front. Please let me know what this is!!! It's driving me CRAZY! :kewl: click on pictures to enlarge!

Thats better.. Looks to me like a wild combination things. Planchet problems, Die problems, and I take back what I said about not being post mint. Looks as if theirs post mint thrown into the mix also. A crazy mix...

my first two thoughts are either a wild strike through, or some glue on the coin.

I would call it blunt force trauma from the US minting process. :D As you can tell idk anything about what kind of error, but someone else will chime in shortly.

I think its a mixture too. I thought it could be glue but ive never seen glue eat away at a coin and still have the actual impression of the image clear. Too me it seems like even before the planchet was struck the planchet itself was messed up. I was thinking of selling it on ebay but I couldn't let myself. It looks too cool! :-D I wonder what is worth...

First I would simply get rid of the glue using acetone. This won't hurt the coin. Then you will see what you really have.

I know its not glue...I went 250x on the coin and can tell quite clearly.

Could you please show us a picture of the whole obverse side and another picture of the whole reverse side so we can get a better idea just what your nickle looks like. Pictures of bits and pieces of your coin leave much to be desired. Thanks!
