    Norodom I (Ang Duong). 1847.

AR tical. Thin flan. 14.8g. Hamza bird with ornate temple. All in Khmer script. Bold strike. Choice EF with pleasant toning. Scarce in such condition.

The first modern struck Cambodian coins, smaller denominations exists in billon (debased silver) and copper. This specimen belonged to.the think flan variant. Many came with weak strikes or work condition noticeably by the lack of details on the bird's body. Also a one year issue.

I have a couple of Cambodian coins from that era. The small 2 Pe has a blank reverse side. 2 Pe obv.jpg 2 Pe rev.jpg 1860 Cambodia obv.jpg 1860 Cambodia rev.jpg
