    Hello all.

I bought and sold these gold love tokens recently for some good profit. It was nice to finally have the gall to take a risk on them! Each one sold within 5 minutes of listing on Facebook, which was nice, and now I have some funds for my first major show at the end of the month.

Long Beach will be a cool trip. I’ll be meeting @Bradley Trotter and @Omegaraptor there which will also be great.

    Any other CT members going?

Share your thoughts on these nice engraved pieces!

$1 gold and a quarter eagle.

Gold love tokens; their names had to be Christie?

I love gold love tokens, and love tokens in general.

I bought this gold dollar near melt.

This folksy pictorial on a quarter-eagle cost a little bit more.

    Very nice pieces!

For a long time, love tokens just made me mad -- someone ruined a perfectly nice (and potentially very valuable) code. I guess I've come around, though; a perfectly nice coin can be kind of boring, and probably out of my price range, but a love token tells a story, more loudly and clearly than a typical circulated coin.

(And sometimes, a modern author continues the story!)

A lot of people still view them as ruined coins, but there are love token collectors. I may be in some danger of becoming one.

I've owned only one gold love token so far. As it turned out, the engraver decided to use the head side, preserving the date and mint mark -- and decided to use a Charlotte dollar. I met a dealer with a customer who collects Charlotte-mint gold love tokens, and he made me an offer I couldn't refuse.

@-jeffB - thanks for linking up my old article about the Vesta McCurry WW1 love token. That was an adventure!

I did a number of other love token writeups, including several where information about the original owners came to light. Even photos of those long-dead folks, in a few instances!

Love tokens can often tell a far more detailed story than plain old undamaged coins.

If you share your recent wealth with me, I'm in. Have a safe, successful, and happy time at the show and beyond, you certainly earned it! Good luck.

Got to make the best of taking a job out in CA, I suppose. Looking forward to having you both out here for the Long Beach Expo.

Still far from wealthy - but I’ve had good luck as of late. Moving up in this world from the kid who joined CT in 2019 :)
