    Hey everyone!

Real quick... I got this 1960 Lincoln penny today and wanted to see if it was a small date or large date... And of it was worth anything outside from the obvious face value.

Thanks in advance everyone... I'm still plugging away trying to find one worth something decent. So far.... I'm 0 for 1000 lol

I believe the small date does not really convey a premium according to members here

The 1960 d small date has very little value.
Even in mint state grades. The 1960 p small date has a small premium in uncirculated grades. Your coin is a large date. In that condition even if it were the small would only be worth 1 cent.

    ^^^^^ This.
As for the small and large date question, the 1960 small date, the numbers will be tighter/closed and the actual date will be physically smaller. As for the large date, the numbers will be more open and the actual date will be larger.
In the 1970 and 1982 I don't find the dates themselves to be smaller or larger,
(noticable by the naked eye anyway like the 1960)
but there are other markers and the small and large dates are just the "names" of the variety. And that causes confusion. "But the 2 on my 1982 is smaller. (Large date)."

Good point, I always look at the 6 and that’s pretty much my point of reference, but I do see how in the large date the numbers are more spread

As for the OP photos I can't really tell.
I thought it was the small. Are both photos the same coin?
But Steve says it is large. The photo comparison posted by Dave
is not the best ones out there and only add to the confusion IMO.

No doubt that it's the large date variety, IMO. I always look at the 6.

    V. Kurt Bellman Yes, I'm blunt! Get over your "feeeeelings".

I know that others' experience differs, but I nearly never see any large date 1960-D cents, but small date 1960-D cents are a dime a dozen. Okay, 12 cents. But I like them MS red, and don't save any below that.

I don't know why my area almost never sees 1960-D large dates, but it is what it is.

Thanks everyone for the quick response and for giving me the explanation behind your answers. This way I won't have to keep asking the same question over and over lol
