Hey guys so its been awhile and I wanted to start with something interesting. I found a 1985D lincoln penny where the whole penny appears to be silver. Now I did a little research and heard that there is such thing as a pure zinc penny. Maybe thats it? Anyways, I will put a pic up soon, just wanted to get some info if there is any. Thanks!

Hey, dumbie. How about how much does it weigh. If it weight 3.1 grams, then it is copper. If if weighs more, then it is coated with something. If it weights less, it is zinc, or something else. A pre 1982 penny is copper, and it always weighs 3.1 grams. 1982 they were both copper and zinc. The only way to know the difference is to weight it on a digital scale. Try it, then you know. If it is pure zinc, then it should weigh less than 2.6 grams. The zinc penny coated with copper weighs 2.6 grams, the pre 1982 all are.

The 1985 would be zinc and should weight in at 2.5 grams. I believe without pictures you have a science experament where they remove the copper coating by electroplating it to another object I've found dozens of them. Post pics and we can help you more

Wow! Just 2 posts and you're calling people names? Real class! You know it all, too. I'm impressed.

BTW the correct spelling is "dummy".

Back whem it was "shiny" if it showed cartwheel luster then it was worth something.....then. Now that the zinc has all oxidized and any luster is gone there is no way to tell if the copper was never there or if it was stripped off later, so now it is worth one cent. Corrosion has removed all premium value.
