I've followed the breakout success of the SBSS series and am always on the lookout for the new Libritarian darling in bullion collectibles. I've picked up some New Liberty Dollars with the hope that they become as collectable as Norfeds. I was a little late to the game on the SBSS frenzy. Now I've got my eye on Second Arrow Silver. I find most of the designs over the top and cheezy. But these Jekyll Island rounds might have some legs. Any opinions or gossip about Second Arrow Silver? Any opinions on the Jekyll Island rounds? It's interesting to note that these are not the first bullion referencing Jekyll Island. I picked a couple up from Amagi for $59 shipped for a possible flip on EBay. We'll see.
Success..?..all the other PM sites and coin sites I post at have a general consensus that these coins are a joke and will trade at melt in the very near future.
You can get any of the BU coins (not the proof versions) for 2.89 over spot with this coupon code 289LIFE They are also selling a bradley manning 1 oz silver coin and another coin:
Thanks for that coupon code. That Obama round really puzzles me, I can't see it aging very well, who's going to remember Game of Thrones 20 years from now? The audience for this round are Game of Thrones fans who are also critical of Obama's drone program?
I like the direction they are going with the designs, but I also felt the same about SBSS at one point. SBSS was plagued with quality and service issues, and still are in my opinion with Duane's new rounds (I ordered some of the new designs, "Love" and "Warbird" and the quality is NOT there, possibly even worse than when Mulligan was minting for him). I guess I'm jaded, but I ordered some of the Second Arrow Rounds on August 8th, have heard nothing from them, paid a kind of ridiculous premium. I'm not even in love with the designs, I just feel the themes of their three series are compelling. It's kind of up to these guys to keep me from going back to predominantly stacking Libertads and Eagles, but the amount of time that it takes for the things to reach my door is sort of ridiculous. And I keep thinking that after the hype with this fad dies down, these will all be in a junk bin for spot at a dealer's table. It is a good idea, but I think the guys who've attempted to do this type of thing are clowns and kind of screwed up a decent idea for all of us.
I've never watched Game of Thrones but I still get the point the round is making. Whether or not the round will do well in the aftermarket, I wouldn't even hazard a guess.

I received my rounds from second arrow a month after ordering. I must say, the quality blows away SBSS (the mulligan and newer versions, both of which have horrible quality control issues), and the provident zombies. The rounds I reviews from second arrow had no flaws, had hard crisp strikes, and clear designs. It took too long, but these things are nice. I just think it's too bad that SBSS kind of ruined it for everyone, because I'm always rooting for American made American art.
I just ordered a Jekyll Island proof. Limited to 2500 (who knows how they will track - serial numbers?), and for $43 shipped, I'm willing to follow the series. I like the content, for sure - I actually have my degree in this era of history so I get like a triple whammy out of this. I'm not much of a fan of the SBSS stuff, other than Trivium and Freedom Girl. This seems much more up my alley.
Did you join today just to post this? Do you have an affiliation with SBSS? Answer these questions and I'll post what I actually think of Chris Duane and SBSS and my first hand experience with both SBSS and Mulligan Mint. BTW, if you go to Provident metals, they have a new round which is poking more fun at Chris Duane, and I find it hilarious....here is the link..showing him how a real company does rounds right.... http://www.providentmetals.com/molon-labe-1-oz-silver-rounds.html
No!! I was just responding to this- I must say, the quality blows away SBSS (the mulligan and newer versions, both of which have horrible quality control issues),
The Molon Labe round? Super cool coin. With the 4.95 shipping they are running. I'm definitely ordering a few.
Interesting...........does it have anything to do with Chris Duane? or SBSS? Ive gotten all the SBSS coins except the trivium but have never heard of the Molon Labe-thanks!
The only thing it has to do with SBSS is probably poking fun at them. You take a good look and there are similarities of that round and AG47. They are also using some of the design of the Sentinel that Mulligan Mint made for TSP. I read that link, and I'm shock that so many don't see how much of a hypocrite Chris Duane is, just amazed and how blind they are. The funny part, is Provident will probably end up owning M2, and it will cost them the money owned and a fraction of what it would cost to actually set up....and the best part is the people that do the blue collar stuff are already there...ready to roll....you should probably run to Chris and tell him, since he won't answer my questions or post them...just like you didn't directly answer.
No!! I was just responding to this- I believe thats a pretty direct answer PeacePeople- I dont know enough about all those people and things to argue-Im just now learning and would like to learn more. I didnt mean to insult you at all!! OR make you think I didnt answer directly about something I dont know about-that would have been worse in my opinion! To spout off about something you dont know about-obviously you are familiar with Chris Duane, SBSS and the whole mess and yes-I would love to know more about the whole thing-it sounds pretty interesting
I don't know anything other than the theme he started is now proliferated by too many mints and wannabes. Because of that, they are no longer in demand other than his close followers. My opinion is he has nobody to blame but himself.
