Seattle area coin shops

For people in the Seattle area, I was just curious which coin shops you prefer. I just got back into collecting a few months ago, so I'm just starting to discover what the shops in the Seattle (and south) area have to offer. Any thoughts on which ones are good and/or which to stay away from? For what it's worth, I'm personally working on modern US coins, so that's mainly what I'll be shopping for, but I'm interested in general thoughts on coin shops in the area.

    Thanks,
    Kris

I know that the coin shop in Tacoma by the mall is extremely nice, I went in there to buy some currency holders and they gave me them for free. I would definately go back there if it wasn't so far from Olympia.

At the shows I felt Magpie collectibles was good.
I tried Crownhill but they seem to be expensive.

Yeah, I've found a few things there so far. Other than Lacey Rare Coins, they're probably the closest decent coin shop, from what I've seen. I believe there's another 1-2 shops in Tacoma, but I haven't checked them out yet.

I've dealt with Magpie at a show or two, and I definitely second that.

I also tried Crown Hill (at the actual shop in Seattle), but found they were expensive as well. They also upset me a bit, and I probably won't return. I was in search of nice, problem-free proof sets from a few specific years. I asked for any 1980 sets he had, and he took a few off the shelf for me to look through. When I found that they were all a bit hazy, I asked if I could look through the others that were sitting right there behind the counter, and he told me something along the lines of, "No, that's enough. If you don't like those, then never mind." So I left.

You might try Rare Coin Galleries, Inc (founded 1962) in Issaquah (30 miles east of Seattle).
I met Michael and Gene at the Tukwila coin show. They seemed likable enough.

In regards to the Tacoma Area, I normally go to Tacoma Mall Boulevard Coins, sometimes to South Hill Coins in Puyallup. But stay away from B&I Coins in Tacoma, they will rip you off big time. I most certainly will never go there(B&I) again.

I recently called South Hill Rare Coins on Meridian asking his pricing on silver bullion (Silver Eagles)...a common question. I always shop around before going in for a transaction. I'm not talking numismatics here, but for some reason he took offense to the question and told me he would never do business with someone who asked such a question. I'm glad he saved me the trip.
Have had real good experiences with Northwest Territorial Mint in Auburn. Their prices, both ask and bid, are by far the best (in shop - or online) that I have ever found. Sad to say, I hear they will be moving to Nevada soon, however I think you can still do online business with them after they move.

only been to 2 in Seattle

Of the 2 I have been to in downtown Seattle , I get a really good vibe from Market Coins (Down Under in Pike Place Market). For being a coin , sports card & memorabilia shop his purchase offers were the best !

Try Bellevue Rare Coins or West Seattle Coins:smile They both have reasonable pricing and good service, but the wait is long
