I tried to see more details by magnifier but it does not come out perfectly, but still, I can see the vertical lines on the tail feathers. Is it the one to be? appreciate your comments.
As I mentioned I can see the horizontal lines but not very clear. Did you enlarge in a new tab or new window by magnifier?
Well, normally if you click on pics on these post, on my computer it will enlarge them. If I click again it will enlarge them again. Then click click and they are back to posted size. Could be something with my cornputer. Had to reset the usb ports couple weeks ago.
I carve dollar coins hobo nickel style. I want to carve a bank box of them(its nice they are easy to get). I do plan on searching for the elusive Cheerio dollar. I use a microscope engraving so it would be easy to examine the tail feathers.
This is the Same pic as you posted in 12/20 and received a number of answers. What do you believe has changed with your coin in the last 18 months that would warrant further opinions?
The Cheerios dollar is super easy to spot with the naked eye. It's HIGHLY unlikely to show up in rolls or change. It would be interesting to try and find out how many Cheerios pattern dollars actually got minted vs. how many are currently graded...
I carve dollars hobo nickel style. I plan on getting a box of dollar coins from the bank to carve- and I will be searching for the Cheerio dollar! (As well as the speared eagle variety). What are my odds of success? Not very high!
Well IF the mintage of the prototype dollars was 5,000 AND all of them were evenly distributed among all the 2000 P dollars AND the boxes you get at the bank are solid 2000 P (no D's, no later sac dollars, no NA dollars or President dollars) then you could expect to find one out of every 153 boxes (153,000 coins) If ANY of the above listed conditions aren't true, then your odds get MUCH worse.
