    Please help a layman

I have a circulated 1891 Morgan Dollar witch is not much worth. I use it as a card guard.
Someone saw it and told me that the mint mark has a minting error.
I always thought that it is not readable because of the bad condition.

Has anyone an idea what it relay is?

My father had this Dollar since 1940 and it looked always like this, how should I know? That`s why I posted it.

The filled S happens at the mint, it's pretty common for the 1891 S (looks like for this year the mint marks weren't to sharp to begin with). Also, it looks like your coin was polished at one point, which tends to mush out the details (including the mint mark).

    aah

So it`s not much worth and I can go on using it as a card guard without being afraid?
