Curious if this an error coin? The obverse and reverse don't look like they rubbed down or grinded down, smooth surface. And the edge is all copper. The edge has NOT been sanded down, it all has a constent look of copper only.
Defiantly damaged. A quarter gets it's reeded edge when it is struck. So if a coin that's supposed to have a reeded edge doesn't have a reeded edge, it either wasn't struck (blank planchet), or it was modified/damaged after it left the mint.
Looks like a dryer coin, the taper on one side and heavy edge on the other. This peace dollar was the victim of someone that had too much time on their hands. It was either tapped on jail house bars, or what we call spooned. Fun coin for being details/altered/damaged. It's about the size of a half.
