has anyone had any coins submitted to this fairly new service? Results? http://www.coinweek.com/education/c...ng-service-reports-initial-results-video-318/
QA tries to fill in areas where the coins are not CAC eligible (and also not Eagle Eye acceptable). I agree that Rick Snow's sticker and CAC are the only two that have gained significant footholds in the market.
I get it, just just don't put much weight in any of the sticker services. If I were a dealer I would think differently knowing how they sell for higher prices, but as a collector, they mean very little to me.
To all...everyday I learn something new on Coin Talk...really glad that I got involved...even though you guys/girls are a bunch of geeks!
Don't you know geeks have ruled since the early 2000's. First it was "San Dimas high school football rules," then it was "O'Doyle rules"... now geeks rule! (Coin geeks included)
No, I've never submitted to them, nor do I plan to. I did just purchase a 1964 Accented Hair Kennedy PF66* that has the "QA" sticker on it. I haven't received it in hand yet (eBay). I DID NOT give any consideration to the "QA" sticker when making the decision to buy the coin. What I do anticipate based on the photos and the NGC "*" is cameo on the obverse, but not enough on the reverse to get the Cameo designation.
I don't collect moderns but a lot of collectors do. I am curious what premium -- if any -- this sticker would bring to a coin. IMHO, sellers often try to get absurd premiums for CAC green stickers.
Kool ade get your Kool ade...... right here It's funny that in 50 years I have bought ,sold and traded coins and not one ever had a sticker.
Three other stickering services that are out there. 1. MAC GE - Stands for Modern Approved Coins/Grade Enhancements. Here is the description from their page... MAC takes up where CAC leaves off. MAC only stickers spotless coins. If you have a certified modern Mint State (post 1940) coin of premium quality your coin is Macable. A MAC sticker could enable you to increase the value of your coins above that stated in existing Price Guides. MAC provides the Price Guide and POP reports for all coins that have been through its process. Take a look at our MAC Price Guides to see what a MAC sticker could do to the value of your coins! GRADE ENHANCEMENTS Grade Enhancements can be applied to 90% of all U.S. traditional and foreign coins that have been overlooked for 50 years. Where current certification reflects the grade of a coin, Grade Enhancements are all about the differences in the die strike. Take a look at our Grade Enhancement designations and Price Guides to see what a MAC GE sticker could do to the value of your coins! I have seen these starting to really pop up at shows. Not so much for QA. 2. WINGS - World Identification and Numismatic Grading Services. Very much like CAC but for World Coins. 3. PQ Approved - This is a Barry Stuppler organization. A PQ Approved sticker certifies that a coin has outstanding eye appeal. You can trust that your PQ Approved rare coins are problem free and high end for their grade. You will be proud to display your PQ Approved rare coins, and you will be confident that they will retain their value. No doubt you’ve heard that, “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” In the case of PQ Approved rare coins, “Beauty is IN the holder.” Say what you will about these services but as of now, CAC coins are bringing higher dollars. I did not believe in these services when they started to appear but once I started to see the price inflation with my own eyes I became a believer. I have not seen the market react the same way to the other services with the exception of MAC GE. And only the GE side not the MAC side.
