Hey guys, I've been handling this coin for a few days now and it has a strange feel to it. On most other quarters I've handled it has clear indentations for all the shapes, grooves or other designs minted onto the coin. This coin however, feels unusually smooth. "United States of America" for instance on the top of the face-side does not appear to be raised.. but instead flat. I cannot feel the letters on the coin, including on the bottom for "Liberty" "In God we Trust" or "Quarter Dollar" or "P" for its mint type. Along the outer edges of the coin, that jagged pattern around it is perfectly smooth where the copper finish is. On the picture-side, again it is smooth with the words "Grand Canyon" "Arizona" "E Plurus Unum" and "2010" darkened, sort of black. Does this sound like machine damage, or is this a possible mint error?
thanks. It was certainly odd to the touch. I noticed it right away when I touched it.. that the coin felt weird.
Yep, just wear on the coin it may have been in a dryer or washing machine for a bit since it's pretty worn for a newer coin, but keep looking real errors are out there! (Also never handle a coin by the face, just by the edges) Thanks, Jacob
It was definitely caught in a clothes dryer. You can tell because the devices look almost as though they have melted. Chris
