Alright, cut me some slack, I'm new to this; but I found a quarter the other day which was definitely NOT normal. It's totally smooth on the edges; and I know that usually smooth-edged coins are assumed to be that way from wear, but this quarter also has a significant lip around the edge of the coin. The lip even cuts off some parts of the text on the coin, and that lip is almost twice the width of an average quarter. The whole quarter is also slightly smaller than a normal one. For clarification, this coin was minted in 1993, in Philadelphia. It's not in good shape, and I'm really not concerned with making money from it; I'm more curious as to how this coin might have gotten that way, and how much it might be worth if it is actually an error coin. Pictures: I hope you all can help me out here; I'm a curious kind of person. Thanks!
I believe that is a dbl stamp, the rings are extremely high, and it was possibly made out of a different material. You should see a coin specialist.
I’m new here. I’m not sure how to post my question. I have this coin and looking to see if this is an error coin?
Totally incorrect information! It's just an altered edge Quarter. Not a Mint Error of any kind! Please do not give bad info if you do not know What you are talking about! Mr. Ed - Specializing in collecting Mint Errors since 1986
