I sent an image of an ungraded note that I bought to a dealer and told him I thought it would grade high. He responded back, "This note was graded VF 25 by PMG". How does he know that ? I tried Googling the Note and the Serial and came up empty. I am a member of PMG and all I have access to is the PMG "Registry" which is a far cry from their actual database of graded Notes. The Registry is just a listing of member's notes who have voluntarily uploaded them for the community to see. So maybe I am missing something. Do some people have special access to the PMG database ? Have I always had access to the database but just have not known how to get there ? Please let me know and thanks.
All grading services have records of what they previously have graded some will cut Notes out of holders whic they would consider them low as far as being able to Access there data base i would just give them a quick call
Are you a paid member through CCG or NGC? Free memberships do not have access to everything. On the PMG Home Page, did you try searching by entering the serial # of the note? If, as the dealer stated, it was graded by PMG, what is the cert #? You can search on the Home Page by entering it. If you want to check pop reports, click on the button at the top of the page just to the left of "Registry". Chris
PMG now has a note verification tool; http://www.pmgnotes.com/index.asp You will need the serial number, Friedberg number, bank charter number (if applicable), and plate position. Your results will only show the latest PMG grade, and nothing previous, or from another TPG.
Thanks, I found that site. The tool said "Not Found". But they have an email link to send it in if you have problems. And sadly it was graded as a 25. Although I would never do such a thing . . . I can see why someone would cut it out - because it looks very clean and has no folds. I am mystified at that Grade. Oh well it just proves how hard it is to guess on these.
