I have been using the zip lock type small jewelry bags to store coins in individually so the don't get more scratched. I think I read somewhere that that is not a good idea. Is this OK or should I discontinue using them? Thanks!

Ziploc bags do not contain PVC it should be okay for short term storage. However I'd suggest switching to mylar holders or air-tites for the valueable ones. I've known people to keep coins in Ziploc brand bags for years without any problems. However, if they are generic bags I'd suggest switching them right away.

i use sandwich bags for general coinage like regular ole foreign coins and the like. silver gets put in something else, airtite, 2x2, something better than just a bag.

i dont have anything nice except for a few cents in my album so ultimate protection isnt an issue for me right now.

I don't see any harm in using the jewelry bags. However, I don't know how much you are paying for the little jewelry bags, but they can't be much cheaper than the cardboard 2x2s which I can get from my local dealer for $.03 each.
