I came accross a Canadian penny - probably minted within the past 10 years - it has no date stamp on the maple leaf side, but it does have a small KG on the right side of the maple leaf. On the back is Queen Elizabeth II and there is a date on the left side 1952-2002. Would a penny without a date be of any value?
That coin HAS a date. 2002. QEII ascended to the throne in 1952, hence, 1952/2002. Same as the US bicentennial coins (1776/1976)
Canadian penny minted in 2002 commemorating the 50th anniversary ( 1952/2002 )of Queen Elizabeth's actually become the queen. Mintage around 716 million. Not really worth much, maybe around 75 cents for BU
Welcome to the neighborhood, Annie! When you have the time, tell us about your collecting interests. Chris
WELCOME! Yep, A 50 year since Queen Elizabeth became queen commemorative penny made for circulation, every Canadian coin that year of all denominations had that date. I have a 2002 Canada Specimen set with all the coins like that.
Hi Adrianna, welcome to CT. Please start a thread of your own, as this one was last responded to nearly 8 years ago. Please include clear, in focus images of your coin and post them using the Full Size button. You will get more people looking and answering this way. It sounds like a grease/debris filled die issue but without photos, who knows! good luck
Also.. Coins are not printed. There is no ink involved in the striking of a coin. They are minted/struck. Paper currency is printed with ink.
I have a large coin with Queen Elizabeth on one side and E R on the other no date, and no minted value on it.I think it is a penny.Does anyone know what it is?
Hi Hi and welcome to CT. It sounds like a token of some sort. You need to show an image of both sides, in focus and in Full Size not a thumbnail, then members here will be able to give an opinion.
