Dominion of Canada Paper-notes & Quarters ... and most recently a whole s-load of "Ancients" => but I must be an April Fool, for I seem to be attracted/obsessed with these nasty ol' painted steel over-sized modern quarters (sorry Doug ... I know that must sting on soooo many levels, eh?) ... anyway ... I have 'em all (and I know I'm gonna keep buyin' 'em!!) ... I love 'em!! View attachment 323303 => no, I'm serious ... this is April "2nd" ... I love these coins!! (enjoy, or please feel free to tear apart this obsession of mine!!) ... I'll be fine either way, brothers ...
Ummm, I guess the only really cool thing about this collection is that the first couple of coins have already tripled/quadrupled in value ... ($35 => $150) ... sure yah, depending upon who actually wants them, if and when my wife wants to sell 'em!!
The first one in these series always seem to skyrocket in price when the second comes up. I really should start 'investing' in RCM product. Do you have any of the Glow in the Darks Steve? The only one in this series that I am really interested in is the Owl.
=> Colonial Acres is basically like buying straight from the Royal Canadian Mint (they must buy their entire stock after a certain time-frame?) ... they're awesome (ummm, no good or bad deals => 100% Charlton Catalogue and/or mint price) ... again, they're basically like buying straight from the mint ... http://www.colonialacres.com/products.php?view=31123&ref=1194
=> ahahaha, of course I do!! (I have "every" Canadian quarter ... that's my thing!!) Again, the "first" example was very cool and is now actually worth quite a bit ... the novelty wears-off quite quickly, but again, I try to collect "every" Canadian quarter (my OCD is locked-in and holding!!) => gawd ... I feel "exposed" (oh well => I love "all sorts o' coins")
Ummmm, these are probably the other quite cool modern Canadian quarter examples ... lil' mini 100% gold babies (super-cool) ... gawd, I feel dirty ... => and lovin' it!!
I like them all - they're certainly superior to the amateurish designs on the US quarters, although I have had some fun with my 7-year-old daughter, collecting them from change and putting them into one of those big US map folders.
Thanks fellas .... wow, I had really braced myself and I was ready for full-frontal abuse?!! (maybe I'll have to wait until a bit later, once the big-shooters have a beer or two and then start thumbin'-through these thereads?!!) => bring it ... I like 'em, but I certainly know that they are "not" in the same league as a "real" coin (they are my bubble-gum collection) Cheers, gang
I really do regret not buying the dinosaurs. I thought they were really cool and had the money at the time. Now it just isn't worth it. Steve you won't get abuse from me! I like many of the RCM products but would rather save the money for ancient coins.
Do you have a favourite? (I know ......it is like chosing between kids); I really like the owl & the ducks...
I don't know if I like them as coins, but I like them as art. I am partial to birds and to wildlife myself.
I remember when the glow in the dark dinosaurs came out, I was going to pick one up for my kids....and the price was pretty darn high. Didn't get it. So are these coins in circulation or just released in small batches and picked up by collectors?
They are release in small batches and are noncirculating. I am betting there will be another GitD by the end of the year. Just keep an eye out on the RCM page. The nice thing is that direct from the RCM the price is 29.95 I think plus shipping so if you can get it before it sells out the price isn't too bad. If it sells out send me a message I can always take a drive down to the mint and see if they have some in house
