Hello, I have come across a 1963 A one dollar bill that has neither the green treasury mark or the serial numbers. It also has discolored ink on the back as you can see here: I would like some information about this bill, like is it worth anything, is it fake, etc.. Thankyou
Looks like it had a bleach bath, maybe in the washer by accident. Not uncommon to see this happen where the green ink is removed, faded, or color changed by a chemical bath.
Hmm i never heard of that happening in chemicals before but im sure it is possible !!! if it didnt have a chemically bath then it would be an awesome piece !!
he believes it happened to the whole bill and it removed the serial number and all the green from the bill !!
Exactly, We see these pop up from time to time. With a quick search on bleached I found many examples like yours - look at post 12 in this thread: http://www.cointalk.com/threads/no-...ellow-backed-dollar-bill.184788/#post-1398374 Just like your note. Best Guess - The green ink seems to be affected more by a wash.
But wouldn't there be some remnants of the green dye if it was bleach washed? Here is something else I found: http://www.cointalk.com/threads/1969d-1-bill-error-note.28282/
I took my bill to the bank, they marked on it with the money pen and it turned yellow. The teller said the bill is real, but could not give me the value of it.
I took a picture of it. The back is yellow. The bank told me its a rare dollar bill and is real. But could not tell me a value of it.
Go back and read the other posts in this thread. The note is genuine but it has most likely been chemically treated.
Ugh Fakey McFakerton and not even a good one. I can still make out much of the serial number - D31X47XXXB - and that's without really trying. It's worth exactly $1 at a banking establishment of your choosing.
