Has anyone had any experience with Numista? Does their "Rarity Index" carry any weight?

It can be a hint that something is scarce/rare, but even then, only with coins. I'd say is less useful with paper and even less useful with exonumia.

It's based on the number of users that have the item in their collection or swap list. Plus, not all coins are listed on Numista, especially older world coins and it's a pain creating new pages with multiple years and/or mintmarks.

I find it an excellent resource, particularly for identifying foreign coins.
