Recently, in the past couple of months, there has been a series of coins up for auction on eBay. The coins are being sold by the same dealer and most are slabed and grade by Numismatic Professional Grading Service. Has anyone heard of this service? I can find no information about this company on Google.
Do the slabs by any chance resemble those of either PCGS or NGC? The single dealer bit, and the lack of internet information, smells like an SGS-type scam.
With the availability of PCGS type holders on the market, and labeling software, anyone can make up a professional looking "graded" coin to sell. Many, many of the odd sounding "grading" companies on line are selling coins this way. SGS just happens to be the biggest of the home made grading companies, there are more showing up all the time.:goof:
Well lets see NGC - PCGS and the one your talking about NPGS I can see how a new bee could make a mistake and think he is getting a top TPG. BRUCE.
I think there are already a few other post here about TPG's. Check them out. Sounds like new ones poping up faster than coins.
HI, I checked out another site and saw a Morgan dollar graded MS65 by this service and it was HORRIBLE! P.S.: Noticed your 1964 Peace Dollar photo, believe it or not I made that reproduction...own Royal Oak Mint, was happy to see it!
As pointed out earlier, a lot of these basement slabbers create a name variation of PCGS or NGC in an attempt to con a buyer.
