This old copper was passed down from my grandfather. I have looked at it numerous times but never have been able to identify it. It weights 11.8 grams, is 29 mm wide and the edge appears to have some type of devices or lettering. It's in poor shape but I'm still curious.
its too bumpy on the inside of the outer ring to be this one... close though. I'm sure theres a variety of that coin with the bumpy interior
I originally thought Fugio but it looks like a wreath or something on the bottom of the reverse. Do you have a measurement for us? I'd recommend perusing numista using around 27 and 28 mm diameter, Cu for metal, as well as wreath for design. Note: sometimes you have to press Search twice because the first time will pull up nothing. My guess: http://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces25231.html
This might be the coin. It's close on diameter & weight and has the edge lettering I couldn't read. What's really weird is my GGG-grandfather was born in Paris, France in 1799 and the entire family fled from France to Canada in 1801. Could it possibly be a family pocket piece passed down 4 generations?
