Hey folks! Sorry I haven’t been around more. I found myself busy with school, so busy I forgot to renew my supporter status! Maybe again soon.

anyway, I’m in the Orlando area for a large conference. I have a few days to do whatever I would like.

Any coin dealers I should check out? Or members here who’d like to connect? Thanks!

Kellyco Metal Detectors has an outlet north of Orlando. However, it isn't the most convenient drive from the convention center on IDrive.

CPAC? Either way, make sure to say Hi to Mickey and Goofy.... the real ones from Disney, just in case you may think I was referring to imitators (I am not).

here's some suggestions. I would say call before you go to make sure they are open and that if they require an appointment, you've done it. Have fun!

For early American Spanish material, you might try this guy. He's in Winter Park, just on the north side of central Orlando. If you're at the Orange County Convention Center, that's on the south side. Just go east on I-4 to the exit that your Google Maps directs you to. He goes to shows and was at this last FUN. I think he only shows by appointment.

If you're into medieval and ancient, try this guy on Fairbanks Avenue, again on the north side of Orlando. He's in my coin club and gave a nice presentation on medieval coins last night at the meeting.

More traditional, dealing in US coins and bullion is Jason at Orlando Coin Exchange on Orange Avenue in south Orlando. They only do appointments and don't have filled display cases, you have to ask to see what you want to see. But Jason and his people are nice, professional, serious.

In downtown Kissimmee, about 10 miles south of the convention center, is Trader Nick's who shows up at all the local shows. I've never found his inventory suitable for me; seems to be mostly currency and some US coins, mostly more common material as well as bullion and some antiques. His website says appointment only but pre-covid he wasn't and may have lifted it.

Do you have a rental car, or easy transportation? I'm not that familiar with the area, but I know there are many interesting places to visit. Probably a bit too far to visit Mel Fisher's museum in Sebastian.

Ohhhhh coin dealers... got ya. from the title I was thinking a different type of dealer. in Orlando, just about anyone on a bike wheeling around an intersection that answers to "hey, hey man!" will get you what you need.

    Who knows :woot:;)
I’m not a Disney guy. Various reasons. Cost is only one.

if you’re talking about leafy greens, those are legal back home so I wouldn’t need to travel.

actually, at this point, I could just walk 2 blocks from my house in Maine and get anything I can imagine, unfortunately.

    Evan,

If you want a change of pace check out the Morse Museum in Winter Park (https://www.morsemuseum.org/). It has the finest collections of works by Louis Comfort Tiffany covering the gamut from jewelry to ceramics to lamps, plus an amazing chapel that will take your breath away. Admission is $1.00 for students with a valid id. I know it's not coins but if you're in the neighborhood check it out. It's a gem of a small museum.

I’ve heard about this 2 or 3 times so far! Sounds like a good time. I don’t have my own rental car though (on trip with other Maine students) so maybe I can find someone to come with. (Cute Swedish girl I met at the conference?)
