I'm searching for some info on a tiny coin that I acquired some time ago and  tossed into a junk/nuts & bolts box, that happened to get cleaned out yesterday:bow:. It is a 1938 buffalo nickel, about the size of these smilies. I'm trying to get a good picture, but it is so small, I can't get it in good focus. It is in really good condition, all the features are super sharp. It measures appx. 1 cm. Is it real or some kind of token or whatever. It is silver, though, or a high content nickel alloy. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Its a mini nickel...it isnt real money...they make and sell very small mini coins (as well as jumbo coins). They make tiny (and jumbo) versions of a lot of different coins like quarters and older coins like the indian penny and such, sometimes they are used for jewelry. They are worth roughly 50 cents in mini.

Thank you very much for the mini nickel info...guess I've got a 'halfway' good start to a cute set of earrings, huh? I appreciate your quick reply very much!

That mini nickel reminded me of the mini coin my son bought. It is a mini lincoln cent made of gold ( about 1/100 oz!!!). My son thought it was great, he now owns a gold coin!
The oversized and undersized coins are kind of a neat way for kids (and some bigger kids;) to get into collecting.

Koool !:kewl: The way metal prices are and may possibly keep going, his little "gold flake" may be one of the better investments made, by 'big or little kids'. ha ha Thanks for your reply, coins have always been so interesting and fun to "play" with, kinda like an old button box, but much more lucrative if you can find the time to learn it, or at least quite a lot of it. I'd like to know a lot more than I do.

I love those mini coins, I've got a couple sets of them, modern and older, they're cool. Here's a photo of some, the large cent is an actual real size cent:
