Hi All, I'm new to this thread and would like some input about a VERY rare dollar my brother found. It is about 1/2 inch shorter in length and 1/4 inch shorter in width when compared to a normal bill. He took it to the bank and they verified that it was legit. A call was also made to the US Treasury and they said that it shouldn't have left the mint. Coin dealers have never seen anything like it. Attached are some pics. Any ideas as to what this might be worth?
That,s amazing talk about shrinkage!! Any thoughts of what caused it? for me I have no idea, Nice find
Honestly, I've seen this sort of thing posted here before. It was definately some post mint procedure that someone did to the bill to 'shrink' it.
Didn't any of the coin dealers give you an idea? Elaborate a little more about what the Treasury Department said. Currency is not made at the mint.
If you want to restore it to normal size ,grind down 2 Viagra pills & put the note in a dish of warm water. Warning;;; if it continues to enlarge to say like a LARGE SIZE Note for more then 4 hours call the BEP immediately !
I had someone come in the shop a week or so ago describing something similar to me. It definitely started life as a regular dollar bill and then was shrunken chemically. We see a few of these a year in the shop.
I think everyone felt bad for George...ROFLMAO As there is no such animal - why ask? A little google and you would have been cleansed.
Hello everyone, Nice mini bill. I have not heard of them, and am surprised to know it is legit. Then again I am not a currency collector, I just like the pretty pictures and stick to coins, for now Anyone know of these? Regards, Stan
Yeah there are 2 kinds of people that have common access,to the extreme chemical used to create these.Chemists that make illegal drugs like meth, and farmers.
Thanks for all the replies everyone! Those really weren't the responses I was looking for though. I was looking for a couple of "Wow, I've never seen that before. It's probably worth millions.", "Damn, that's one of a kind!", and stuff similar to that. I guess the truth hurts. Looks like I'll have to continue playing the lottery after all.
Don't be discouraged. It's a neat conversation piece. I saw my first one when a business partner showed me a magic trick where he produced a small sized bill. I can't remember how the trick went but it was pretty cool.
