Highly damaged. No way this could have happened in the minting process.

Okay no worries thank you! :)

I figured but wanted to ask and make sure.. what's either of your takes on nickels with buffalo's and Indian or nickels from 1940? Those have silver up to 1964 correct or is that just quarters?

The so-called war nickels during WW2 were 40% silver, but otherwise, no silver nickels. Dimes, quarters and half dollars were 90% silver through 1964.

@Jaycie h ...you have only been a member for a few days, so you may want to go to these sites to jumpstart your coin education:

    lincolncentresource.com
    doubleddie.com ...and,
    error-ref.com.

Read the sections about "how dies are made" and the minting process. All 3 sites contain info you should read and refer to in the future. They will help teach you how to tell damaged coins from those truly collectible.

If you don't have one already, get yourself a copy of Yeoman's Red Book. It will take you lightyears ahead in this hobby.
