    Maybe...if the price is right.

Here's the thing: the Jefferson Nickel series can be built straight from your change and with roll searching. It may take time, but I've built 3 sets from circulation finds. In the process of searching nickels, I've also built a roll set of nickels. Some rolls are still in-process, but anything after the war years is pretty much complete and coins are XF or better. Save the 1950 D roll...the only has 3 in it since I've only found 3 in circulation.

Bottomline: Jefferson nickels are the easiest to collect and the easiest to build out set and rolls. In my opinion, unless the price is unbelievably good, I would pass. Almost everything you need will be found for face value.

I agree with @Kevin Mader circulated Jefferson Nickels outside of the 50-D, war nickels, and variety coins are only worth face value.

I've completed my set, so I wouldn't buy them - except maybe the war nicks for around melt.

Yeah I put some time in last night there's a lot of errors on those S nickels and the guys got a ton of those I kind of did my homework I mean if I find like three re-punch mint marks it'll pay for the the nickel a lot it's $75 for $280 nickels

What we can't tell from the photos is what condition they are in. If they are circulated, you have about $15 worth of nickels with only 3 or so Wartime nickels. That's around $20-25 total value. You'd be overpaying quite a bit.

Even if you find variety nickels mixed in, you would need to consider whether or not that impacts the value in a significant way. And you would need to be confident in your ability to determine RPMs or the like.

My experience is that if you are interested in the coins, offer in the $20-25 range hoping that there are a couple attributed varieties. Otherwise, most of what you are buying, say 90-95% of those nickels are worth a nickel a piece.

I'm at a value of about $15 for the lot. But keep in mind, that you can get all these for face value. Just get a box of nickels from the bank and go through them. Return extras to another bank, get another box if needed. I've gotten about 150 silver war nickels for face value and 40 buffalo nickels - all for face value from doing this.

That takes time though. What's your average hourly rate you think?
