Mostly do coin roll hunting when I don't have any World Coins to research. But today i had an idea to go to the laundromat and drop a couple of 20s into the change machine. I found about 6 2019 coins, including the first San Antonio Missions for me. No silver, no collectables, but the bank rolls have not been any better. I might keep trying to see whether anything interesting drops into my bag.
I don't have my reference stuff at hand. If memory serves, the silver quarters had a different weight than the clad quarters. I would bet modern machines wouldn't be able to vend a silver quarter with a different weight.
I usually do the laundry for my wife about every two weeks. Take the cloths, detergent and my loupe. Always get about $40 worth of quarters every time and look through them as the wash gets done. Over the years I have kept track of some of my "wash day finds." I have come up with 4- 2013P-25-SD WDDR-001s (Mt Rushmores), 2 2015P 25-NE WDDR-012 (Homestead) Best find was 3 2016P 25-WV WDDR-004 (Harpers Ferry) at one time. Have several ATB S minted quarters and 2 Silver Proofs. Wife can't understand why I volunteer to do the wash.
I have had some luck with the Laundromat coin machines. I have pulled a couple silvers out, (a 1943 just yesterday) I did find an AMP -W awhile back too. Don't remember EVER finding a silver in a bank roll. I also have found some IN GOD WE RUST and other minor errors. Also got a Gold Plated Quarter from there last week.
Seems to me that on occasion your wife will do the laundry for you if you've got a schedule for doing it regularly
Just did $60 in Laundromat quarters. Found a 1964 silver. an "in god rust" and 2 Lowell's with die chips.
